I hope you will enjoy looking around my animal portraiture website. I offer exquisitely detailed artworks and have over 40 years professional experience specializing in hand painted pet portraits. You can find examples of my pet portraits, dog portraits, cat portraits and horse portraits in my Gallery page. I supply Ross-on-Wye, Hereford, Worcester, Gloucester, Monmouth and the Forest of Dean area as well as mailing artwork out to customers wherever they might be in the UK and the world.
About Me
I have spent most of my life living in the intoxicating beauty of the Herefordshire countryside, and have been drawing and painting animals ever since I was a small child growing up on my parent’s riding school. I have been lucky enough to grow up with not only horses, but dogs, cats, chickens and peacocks and am a lifelong lover of animals and nature.
Most of the work you see in my gallery at present is done with a combination of water soluble crayon and acrylic paint but I also work in oil. Please be aware that oil paintings take longer to produce than crayon as layers of paint need to dry between applications.
How it works
I am dedicated to capturing an animal’s unique personality and soul by paying great attention to every detail – I need to see the character in his or her eyes. I would recommend that you use a professional photograph for the highest possible quality portrait… an image which is out of focus or which has been taken in poor or overly brilliant light is going to lead to an artwork which may not look as good as it should! This is not only unfortunate for you, the customer, but it also lets down my work. Should I decide to accept your commission it is therefore essential that you select an excellent photograph of your animal – one which shows a stance or a ‘look’ which is typical of their personality. Remember, your finished portrait will look like your photograph! Once that special photograph is chosen it is then a simple process of emailing it to me and work can begin.
Portraiture requires a huge amount of work and concentration and cannot be rushed. As a rough guide, a portrait in coloured pencil & acrylic paint will take about one to two weeks, and an oil painting will take at least three to four weeks. If you are thinking of placing urgent orders for birthdays please book as early as possible!

I so admire Jane’s artwork. She brings her subjects to life with her gift of possessing a meticulous eye for detail, and her talent for bringing a three dimensional aspect to her work too, inspiring me with the desire to reach out and almost touch/stroke the animals portrayed. I always look forward to seeing her latest works……an extremely talented lady!

I wanted to tell you how very thrilled I am with the drawing of Lia. I am so glad that we did this now while she still has spring in her step, and only a few gray hairs, rather than after she passes. I have had so many compliments on the photo, I can’t imagine what people will think of the real thing!
